The Red-necked Phalarope at Wood End sewage Works (Burnley WWTW) - 27.05.02 - The 2nd East Lancs record.

Local birder Bernard Lee found this superb R.N. Phalarope at approx 09.30hrs. The bird showed well throughout the day on the largest pool NW of the WWTW buildings to 21.20hrs at least.
Sadly, there was no sign of the bird during an early morning search on the 28th May.

The only previous record in East Lancs was an adult female, found by Kevin Singleton at Brownhill Reservoir, Foulridge on the evening of 9th July 1996.
The 2002 individual is approximately the 30th Lancashire record.
