possible 1stw Caspian Gull.

Whinney Hill Tip, Lancs, UK.

20.02.03.  Tony Disley.

I saw this bird for about 5 mins, but all the time it was in the awkward area
near the water, i.e a lot of heat haze and in strong sunlight. I filmed it
before the flock flew and I never saw it again apart from a brief poss view
on the tip itself. Very frustrating, I did the Fishmoor Reservoir Gull roost until 17.15hrs, but no sign.

The prob Cachinnans seems to show some good features: slim dark bill with
slightly pale base (though short looking?), small white head with pear shape
and snouty look, shawl of streaking showing off the white head, half dark greatert covert bar, long looking legs especially tibia in some shots, dark tertials, with pale tips and grey mantle with lower set of scaps seeming to show no black markings. I was so frustrated that I could'nt get any better images and I missed seeing it in flight !!!!!!!!!!!!
